MY PATH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY
It has always been in my nature to deeply listen and observe. This innate skill combined with my desire to study my own emotional suffering lead me to psychology and psychotherapy. At UCIrvine in Southern California I earned a degree in Psychology and Social Behavior, and then completed the Contemplative Counseling Psychology graduate program at Naropa University. I am now honored to have over 10 years of clinical experience.
Through years of personal psychotherapy, meditation practice, group process work, somatic healing, and many adventures in nature, I have cultivated a sense of freedom and flexibility. I recognize that psychotherapy is one of many ways to create more joy in one’s life, though I attribute it to bringing about the most lasting interpersonal change.
"To listen is to lean in, softly, with a willingness to be changed by what we hear."
- Mark Nepo
PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC APPROACH
I believe that healing happens through the body and brain, and that thought processes can be attended to with the power of a focused mind. Some specific modalities I often draw from include Brainspotting, the Hakomi Method, mindfulness and somatic practices, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
In a session with me, you will feel permission to express all of your different or conflicting emotions, thoughts and feelings. You will feel challenged to grow and move through emotional intensity, and experience lightness and relief. My intention is that you will feel respected, apart of the process, and feel able to give me feedback. I look forward to connecting with you and seeing how I can be of help!
